The Groom's speech traditionally replies to the Father of the Bride's speech on behalf of both himself and his new wife.
The groom normally:
Thanks the father of the bride for his toast
Thanks the guests for attending and for their gifts
Thanks both sets of parents.
Compliments his bride
Thanks his best man
Thanks and toasts the bridesmaids
Groom's speech - thanking the bride. He thanks her for choosing him. He thanks her for all of the wonderful things she does and for the person that she is. He may choose to tell a romantic story about their courtship, how he proposed, or how he knew she was “the one.” This part of the speech should be very sentimental and a little bit personal. The groom’s speech is also the time to thank the bride’s parents, especially if they have paid for the wedding.
Including providing him with the perfect wife, throwing the wedding if they have paid for it. This can be tricky since there should be no monetary mention. The groom simply needs to say,” thank you for such a beautiful and memorable day.” The bride and her parents will be thrilled to hear this part of the groom’s wedding speech.
Next, the groom needs to thank his own parents for all they have done for him. This should be easy as long as the groom has a decent relationship with his parents. The groom may also show thanks to others that have had a hand in helping him to become the man that he is. This could include a godparent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or family friend that has had a significant impact.
This includes wedding contributions as well as the ways they enhance everyday life. There is a reason they were chosen to be in the bridal party. He needs to thank the “boys” for standing up with him and he should thank the bridesmaids for helping his new wife through the wedding planning process.
The groom should take this opportunity to tell all of these people just how important they are and how lucky he is to have them. This make’s the groom’s speech truly memorable!
